Hi my name is Steve Millard. I am a BSAC Open water Instructor and an AIDA Freediving Instructor Trainer. I can arrange to do a talk for you on the sport of Freediving. As many people are now aware it is a growth sport, and it is a great sport to help Scuba divers improve their technique, confidence, ability to deal with stressful situations and in many cases, their air consumption.

I have been in the water sports industry since leaving school, which is now nearly 25 years. For the whole of this time I have snorkeled, but for the last 10 years I have pursued Freediving as a proper sport (not just ‘deep snorkeling’). I have represented the UK at the World Championships twice as an athlete, and coached the National squad. I currently represent AIDA (the International governing body for Freediving, very similar to the BSAC) on the Education commission. I have Chaired the British Freediving association and have took other committee roles.

I coach a number of International athletes such as Rebecca Coales and we have the main club based in the North of England, Scotland and Wales.

I would like the opportunity to chat to as many of the club members as possible, i’ve put together a short presentation, but in all honesty the main point of the lecture is to have meaningful interactions, questions about the sport and dispel any myths, and let you know why we enjoy it so much.

The presentation will be around 1 – 1.5 hours with video and cover some of the following subjects:

— Who Governs freediving
— My Personal Introduction
— What is Freediving?
— Freediving equipment
— Freediving Disciplines
— Safety in Freediving
— How to start Freediving

As I said though, any specific queries will be answered, and the content is different each time I run it to cater for those in the lecture. Please contact me below if you wish me to come and give your club a lecture.
